detached house
Originally a Norman farm, the estate was bought in the mid 70Âs by a british family, the Osborne.
The children of the Osborne family, who were keen on horse riding, used it as their training field.
In the early 80Âs, Max CLOS and his wife Yvonne bought the property. Yvonne Clos, an author, was quite successful with : « Dis, Mamie, TU L\'ECRIS NOTRE HISTOIRE D\'AMOUR » (published by Robert Laffont), which she wrote on the estate. Max CLOS, a famous journalist, who received the prize Albert Londres in 1962, was the chief editor, then the director of the editorial staff of ÂLe Figaro from the 70Âs to the 90Âs.
The CLOS family then started a complete renovation, to improve the main house, the guests house and a few additional buildings on the property, and they eventually changed the land into superb landscaped gardens, totally isolated from the neighbourhood.
The estate is situated in the Orne department, on the borders of the Perche, in Le Chatelet, part of the town of AUGUAISE.
The emblem of the Orne is a horse. There are good reasons for that:
This department shelters the famous Haras National du Pin and many private horse breeding farms.
The famous movie star Jean GABIN had his property and horse breeding farm a few km away from Le Chatelet.
LE CHATELET is situated 4 km away from local shops and shops selling farm products, 9 km away from LÂAigle, which offers all commodities and services, 140 km away from Paris and less than 90 km away from the Normandy resorts (Deauville, Cabourg, Honfleur).
The area is rich in natural, architectural and gastronomic treasures.
The estate is not far from the A28 motorway that links the A13 and the A11, not far from the A88 motorway that links Alençon to Caen and its airport.
The railway station of LÂAigle is on the Paris-Granville line (Paris 1h20 and Granville 1h45)
